Los Premios GAC 2010, III Noche del galerismo fueron entregados ayer noche. Los premios, otorgados por el Gremio de Galerías de Catalunya, tienen como objetivo dar difusión a las galerías como elemento fundamental del mercado artístico y de la promoción de artistas. + info

El premio consiste en la entrega de un galardón-escultura basada en la reinterpretación de un dibujo del artista Joaquín Torres García, cedido por el museo dedicado al artista con sede en Montevideo, Uruguay.

Los galardonados de la 3a edición son:

- Premio a la galería por su trayectoria: Galería Joan Prats

- Premio a la galería joven por su proyección internacional: ProjecteSD

- Premio al coleccionismo: Helga de Alvear

- Premio a la crítica de arte: José Luis Brea

- Premio al medio de comunicación: A-Desk

Como novedades en esta edición se han incluido dos nuevas categorías:

- Premio al comisariado de exposiciones: Latitudes

- Homenaje a la trayectoria artística: Antoni Tàpies

El jurado ha galardonado Latitudes por su labor "curatorial y especialmente por su implicación en el contexto local y su esfuerzo en difundir el arte nacional en el contexto internacional. No resulta nada fácil establecer una colaboración ni establecer las bases de una plataforma que tenga como fin producir proyectos y crear comunidad artística. Atentos a lo nuevo, pero con una visión crítica sobre la herencia histórica, Latitudes ha sabido hacerse un hueco y compartir este mismo espacio para hacer de Barcelona un lugar más abierto".

El comité organizador está formado por representantes de las cuatro asociaciones de galeristas (Asociación de Galeristas de Arte Independientes de Cataluña, Asociación Art Catalunya, Asociación Art Barcelona, Gremio de Galerías de Arte de Cataluña).

Designed by Rotterdam-based design studio Ben Laloua/Didier Pascal, the multi-part publication box includes a miscellany of contributions by the artists, a cahier with texts on the projects (it can be downloaded from here), the prologue publication presented with the launch of the project in February 2009 and a DVD with 'behind the scenes' footage with interviews with 'Portscapes' artists.

DVD with 'behind the scenes' footage and interviews with 'Portscapes' artists – these can also be seen online on Latitudes' YouTube Channel.

The limited edition contains the film '6 Hours Tide Object with Correction of Perspective' (2009) produced by Jan Dibbets for 'Portscapes'.

Following on the announcement of Murcia as the host city for Manifesta 8 (see here) and the curatorial appointments announcement (see here), Manifesta Foundation presented during ARCO the venues for the European biennial, which will include (selection of photographs below): Museo Hidráulico de los Molinos del Río Segura, the MUBAM (Museo de Bellas Artes, Murcia), the Espacio AV, the Centro Párraga, Murcia, and the MURAM (Museo Regional del Arte Moderno, Cartagena), the Parque Torres Auditorium (Cartagena), the ARQUA (Museo Nacional de Arqueología Subacuática, Cartagena), the Former Autopsies Pavilion (Cartagena) and theSan Antón Prison (Cartagena).

In addition, emblematic spaces like the Pavilion 2 of the Artillery Barracks (Murcia), the Former Post and Telegraphs Office (Murcia) or the panoramic restaurant El Parque (Cartagena) are being recovered for the public and re-opened after years in disuse.

The hosting city/region for Manifesta 9 (2012) has recently been announced: Limburg, the easternmost province of Flanders, Belgium. The organising venue is the art center Z33 directed by Jan Boelen. In words of the commissioner 'repositioning oneself in a post-industrial society and the pursuit of attaching new meaning to our industrial heritage are issues which are present all over Europe and hold the interest of the Manifesta. With its impressive buildings on the mine sites at Waterschei and Beringen, and the production halls of the former Philips factory in Hasselt Limburg has also favourable sites to house expositions.'
